This handwoven plaited utilitarian  rattan piece can be used as a storage basket or used as a handbag. Plaited baskets are woven with a flat, square or rectangular basket. Both the spider and plaited baskets have warps and weavers. The weavers go over and under the warps, both when plaiting and twining. The weaving is impecable, even & extremely tight. They are  skilled basket weavers on Lombok, the first island east of Bali. This piece has a wood frame bottom.
